COURSE DESCRIPTION

The side lever press is a forgotten glass tool from the late 18th century, but has a lot of applications for today's modern glass artist and designer. In this weekend intensive class, students will work as teams to learn the use and adjustment of a side lever press for efficient glass production. More than a dozen antique cast iron press molds will be available to use, and students will swap molds and positions on the press team to learn as much as they can over the weekend. The class will begin with a meet and greet Friday evening at Max Grossman's studio, where they can discuss the pressing process, mold design, and how modern technology like 3D modeling and printing can make pressed glass more relevant than ever.

PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW AND LET US KNOW YOUR PRIOR GLASS OR CRAFTS EXPERIENCE. PARTICIPANTS ARE REVIEWED TO MAXIMIZE CLASS DYNAMIC, WORK LOAD, AND PRODUCTIVITY.
