4 Week Classes

Level 1A-Wednesdays 6-9pm, August 14, 21, 28 and Sept 4

Taught by Cedric Mitchell and Corey Pemberton

No previous glassblowing experience is necessary to take this introductory level course. Learn the basics of blowing bubbles, gathering, using all of the hand tools and making basic shapes with a team.

This class varies from individual appointments as team working with other beginning students allows you to further develop your skills as an individual within a group.

Blowing Sculpture”- Wednesdays 5-9pm, July 10, 17, 24 and 31

Taught by Ethan Stern

With a focus on sculptural glassblowing and closed forms, students will be challenged to break out of the round and think about the bubble in new ways. We will explore methods of blowing, shaping and manipulating the bubble at the bench and beyond. Demonstrations will include hot-glass shaping with graphite and cork paddles, sculptural punties and various color application techniques including overlays, color cups, and cane. Coldworking techniques will be discussed. Going beyond the basics, students will be encouraged to research, draw and approach the class as an experiment in strengthening designs, concepts, originality, and teamwork.
